INTRODUCTION

Asia Coaching and Mentoring Academy Limited (ACMA) and the InVision | Chris & Partners Group (InVision | Chris & Partners) are committed to fostering high standards of integrity and professional conduct among members of the coaching community, to protecting the safety and well-being of each coaching client and to providing professional coaching services of international standards through powerful coaching relationships.

PROFESSIONAL CONDUCT WITH CLIENTS

  1.   1.  I honor and respect the uniqueness of each individual, and I pledge to conduct myself with compassion, fairness, authenticity, honesty and personal responsibility.
  2.    2. I will create clear agreements with clients and honour all agreements made in the context of the coaching.
  3.    3. I will empower my clients to make choices that support their well-being and intentions, and will not influence them in any way to take actions that are contrary to their values, standards or personal boundaries.
  4.    4. I will be responsible for setting clear, appropriate, and culturally sensitive boundaries that govern any inappropriate or physical contact with clients. I will not become sexually involved with any of my clients.
  5.    5. I will maintain strict confidentiality in my coaching relationships and will not share the content or existence of these relationships except when my client specifically authorizes it or when I am required by law to do so. I will obtain permission from each client before releasing their name as references.
  6.    6. I will avoid conflicts of interest and give notice of potential conflicts. I will directly address any potential conflicts and will not engage in any coaching relationship in which there is, or appears to be, a conflict of interest unless all parties involved expressly agree to the relationship.
  7.    7. I will only use my coaching relationship to further the intentions expressed in the coaching project agreed upon with my client. I will not knowingly exploit any aspect of the coach-client relationship for my personal, professional or monetary benefit.
  8.    8. I will responsibly seek immediate supervision from ACMA if I find that I am not competent to serve my client. Upon confirmation of ACMA, I will complete and disengage myself from the coaching relationship in which I believe it is not appropriate for the client to continue with the coaching.
  9.    9. I will seek to avoid conflicts between my interests and the interests of ACMA and their clients, as well as clients of the InVision | Chris & Partners Group.

PROFESSIONAL CONDUCT AT LARGE

  1.    1. I will be responsible for having my life work, consistently demonstrating the principles of the coaching profession, so that I am a demonstration of the possibility I coach others to attain.
  2.    2. I am committed to doing what I said I would do, and to communicating honestly, authentically and responsibly when I do not.
  3.    3. I will give full acknowledgment to the work and contributions of others. I will respect intellectual property rights and comply with applicable laws concerning their protection.
  4.    4. I will not misrepresent my qualifications, expertise, or experience as a coach. I will not offer professional information or advice I know to be confidential, misleading, or for which the accuracy is beyond my competence to assess.
  5.    5. I will conduct myself in a manner that reflects positively upon ACMA and InVision | Chris & Partners and I will refrain from engaging in conduct or making statements and comments that may negatively impact the public’s understanding or acceptance of the coaching and training profession.
  6.    6. I will maintain absolute confidentiality of clients’ experiences and respect the confidentiality of all information received, except as otherwise authorized by the client, or as required by law.
  7.    7. I will at all times strive to recognize personal issues that may interfere or impair my coaching/professional performance or my professional relationships. I will promptly seek supervision from ACMA to determine the action to be taken.
  8.    8. I will not use my influence and role to influence others for personal, professional or monetary gain.

PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT

I pledge to pursue my development as a coach by making a commitment to my own personal growth and exploration and by maintaining a mutually empowering professional relationship with members of the coaching community.

RELATIONSHIPS WITH OTHER COACHES

I will actively seek the support of my peers in upholding my ethics, reviewing my work and improving my competence as a coach.

THE ACMA PLEDGE OF ETHICS

As a professional coach, I acknowledge and agree to honour my ethical obligations to clients, peers and the public at large. I pledge to comply with the ACMA Code of Ethics, to treat people with dignity as equal human beings and to model these standards with those whom I coach. If I breach this Pledge of Ethics or the ACMA Code of Ethics, I agree that ACMA has sole discretion to hold me accountable.
